Volt Tech 32-0371 Black 17 Amp 12 Volt Alternator Generator Conversion Kit

Generator alternator conversion kit replaces original generator and regulator. Compact high output alternator measures 3-1/4 inch long weighing only 3 lbs. The 2 short wires from the regulators go to alternator terminals long wire.

The Volt Tech 32-0371 Black 17 Amp 12 Volt Alternator Generator Conversion Kit includes a black alternator and a black regulator for converting applicable generator systems to alternator operation. The alternator delivers 17 amps at 1,000 RPM and features a billet housing for accurate alignment, along with a stress-proof shaft.

The alternator has 5/16-inch-24 mounting holes for screws. The 13-tooth drive gear is intended for Big Twin applications, while the 14-tooth drive gear is intended for Sportster applications. The kit can be used on 1957–1983 XL and 1941–1969 FL models when the generator bolt holes in the cases are drilled to 5/16-inch-24. A Helicoil kit can be used to convert 12-volt generators with 5/16-inch-24 threads to 1/4-inch-24 threads for early mount bolts.

The black finned regulator is not built in and must be mounted remotely. This kit requires a 12-volt battery and cannot be used with a mini battery identified as 12N55A-3B. Mount screws, a gasket and the gear kit must be ordered for the specific application. Suggested accessories include the 14-tooth Generator Gear Kit 32-0983 for XL models, the 13-tooth Generator Gear Kit 32-0204 for Big Twin models and the 16-0920 Thread Repair Kit. The manufacturer replacement seal PHLE #TC1835 is also suggested.
