This magneto assembly uses a two-bolt mounting arrangement at the engine case. The 1966–1969 models use a 1/4-inch-20 stud, while 1941–1969 models use a 1/4-inch-24 thread. For 1965–1969 Shovelhead single-stud cases, drilling and tapping a second 1/4-inch-20 hole for the two-bolt mount is advisable. It is also compatible with 1966–1969 cases that use a single-stud distributor mount; remove the existing stud before installation if an additional mounting hole is needed.

The magneto rotates left hand, and the points and point plate holder are also left handed. The cap requires additional clearance in the motor-case-head area near the front cylinder. Check clearance with aftermarket heavy-duty cases, as the magneto aluminum base may interfere with the motor case at the distributor base area.
