Volt Tech 32-0372 Chrome 17 Amp Alternator Generator Conversion Kit

Compact generator alternator conversion kit replaces original generator and regulator. The 2 short wires from the regulators go to alternator termincals long wire. Includes chrome alternator and regulator.

The Volt Tech 32-0372 Chrome 17 Amp Alternator Generator Conversion Kit is designed as a stronger-than-stock charging solution featuring a billet housing for accurate alignment and a stress-resistant shaft. It produces 17 amps at 1,000 rpm and uses 5/16-24 mounting holes for screws. The kit includes a 13-tooth drive gear configuration for Big Twin applications and a 14-tooth configuration for Sportster applications.

This kit can be used on 1957-1983 XL and 1941-1969 FL models when the generator bolt holes in the cases are drilled to 5/16-24. A HeliCoil kit can be used to convert 12-volt generators with 5/16-24 threads to 1/4-24 threads for early mounting bolt sets. On pre-1958 FL and G models, the holes may need to be enlarged to 5/16 inch to accept the larger screws.

The black finned regulator is not built in and must be mounted remotely. The kit cannot be used with a mini battery identified as 12N55A-3B. The outer cover with the large hex nut houses the rotor magnets in a stainless steel shell. Mounting screws, gasket and gear kit should be ordered for the specific application. Suggested supporting items include Volt Tech gear kits 32-0204 and 32-0983, manufacturer replacement seal PHLE TC1835 and Thread Repair Kit 16-0920.
