The Keith Black KB305.STD 80 inch Evolution Piston Kit Standard features a hypereutectic alloy piston cast in a permanent steel mold. This manufacturing process supports a lightweight piston design intended to help produce more power, use less fuel and provide extended service life. The piston is standard size for a 3.498-inch bore and has a 9.5:1 compression ratio.

The alloy’s low heat transfer helps keep the skirts cooler, minimizing piston expansion. Combined with high compression ring placement, this design is intended to increase power and economy. High ring placement also helps reduce detonation and increase top-ring temperature. The kit is supplied as a set and is associated with 80 inch Evolution applications, including 1984–1993 Harley-Davidson FXR models as specified by the supplier.

Keith Black recommends running the engine at moderate speeds for at least 500 miles while avoiding excessive operation in lower gears to properly break in new pistons and rings.
