Volt Tech 32-1873 Big Twin 12 Volt Alternator Kit

This 32E Knucklehead Panhead and flat side Shovelhead includes a black 12 volt alternator with a chrome end cover. Kit also includes black finned solid state regulator and gear kit.

The Volt Tech 32-1873 Big Twin 12 Volt Alternator Kit replaces 1936–1957 three-brush and 1958–1969 two-brush generators with an alternator featuring the original 32E shape. It fits 1941–1950 Harley-Davidson FL models and can be installed on 1958–1969 FL or 1958–1985 XL models using 5/16-inch mounting screws.

The alternator includes a chrome end cover. A finned regulator must be relocated from the original relay position on the right side of the cam cover. The 32E alternator kit can also be fitted with 1/4-inch-24 screws, a generator strap and a shim kit for an original-look installation. Mount bolts and mounting screws are required separately, and the mounting flange and generator body accommodate 1/4-inch-24 or 5/16-inch-24 mounting screws. On pre-1958 FL and G models, enlarging the mounting holes to 5/16 inch is recommended for the larger screws.

Output is rated at 3 amps at 750 RPM, 5 amps at 1,000 RPM, 7.8 amps at 2,000 RPM, 8.5 amps at 3,000 RPM and 8.9 amps at 4,000 RPM. The supplier suggests using this kit with the #42-0438 Black Generator 3-Brush End Cover. The kit is supplied as a complete alternator kit and is manufactured in Taiwan.
