Motorshop 22-0783 Kick Starter Kit, Polished

Kick starter kit includes all assembly components and features a polished finish.

The Motorshop 22-0783 Kick Starter Kit is a polished kit for 1980–1984 Harley-Davidson XL models. It includes a kick starter cover, clutch drum with the ratchet gear riveted into place, kick starter shaft, and drill template.

Installation requires drilling the left side of the engine case for the kick starter shaft bushing and gear stop pin. The drill template includes pilot and finish drill specifications, but drill bits are not supplied. Accurate drilling is required, and a separate drilling fixture must be ordered. Follow the photos and instructions in the early Sportster service manual.

With forward controls, the rear brake master cylinder must be moved forward. The kit is supplied as a complete kit for the stated application. Suggested related items include a polished sprocket cover, chrome kick starter arm, primary cover gaskets, and a 1981–1984 XL clutch drum.
