The Keith Black KB272.020 883cc Conversion Piston Set is designed for applicable 1986–1995 Harley-Davidson XL models. This set features a 3-1/2-inch piston manufactured from alloy cast in a permanent steel mold. The construction is intended to provide a lightweight piston design that supports increased power, quiet operation, reduced fuel use, and extended service life.

The alloy’s low heat transfer helps keep the piston skirts cooler, minimizing piston expansion. The piston set includes a Hastings Moly ring set and is intended for use with a 3.812-inch stroke and a dished head. For 2009-and-later XL 883 applications, the cylinders cannot be overbored to 1200cc; separate 1200cc cylinders are required for use with this piston kit. Follow the manufacturer’s installation and fitment guidance before assembly. After installation, run the engine at moderate speeds for at least 500 miles and avoid excessive operation in lower gears to properly break in the new pistons and rings.
